Two members of the exceptional Australia Piano Quartet, renowned in their own right as outstanding soloists, appear in recital. Accomplished pianist Konstantin Shamray, winner of multiple international competitions, has performed with leading orchestras from Moscow to Sydney. Founding Artistic Director of the APQ Thomas Rann has appeared at venues including Wigmore Hall and the Sydney Opera House.
They combine their strengths, finesse and insights in this programme of pieces for cello and piano. Beethoven’s variations on two themes from Mozart’s The Magic Flute are a cheerful homage. Beethoven’s early sonata is expansive and energetic. Chopin’s tightly integrated yearning and soulful sonata closes the concert
