Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra ends its 2019 at the Concourse with a sumptuous feast of operatic favourites in the superb concert hall of The Concourse, Chatswood. The KPO continues to grow and impress audiences with its performances ranging from schools concerts, community concerts, its own widely respected Concerto Competition, and polished performances at The Concourse with some of Australia’s finest soloists.

In this concert, the audience will be welcomed by the power of Verdi’s overture to The Force of Destiny and enchanted by two wonderful soloists from Opera Australia. Soprano, Taryn Fiebig, and tenor, Simon Kim, will present classic arias such as E lucevan le stelle, Nessun Dorma, Carmen’s Habanera, Oh lovely silver moon, from Dvorak’s Rusalka, O mio babbino caro, Viljalied, from The Merry Widow, and more. Taryn and Simon will also join forces in the Brindisi duet, Libiamo ne’ lieti calici, from La Traviata, and Lippen schweigen, from The Merry Widow.

Violinist, Emily Su, the brilliant winner of the 2018 KPO Secondary Schools Concerto Competition, will also grace the program with two works that originated in the world of opera. Pablo Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy is one of the great violin showpieces in the repertoire, and the audience will be transported by the beauty of Jules Massenet’s Meditation, from his opera, Thais.

The concert will be conducted by KPO’s Artistic Director and Chief Conductor, Paul Terracini.
