Part 1

According to the Samguksagi (1145), a history of the Three Kingdoms of Korea, the gayageum was developed around the 6th century in the Gaya confederacy by King Gasil (Daegaya). He ordered a musician named Wu Ruk to compose music that could be played on the string-ed instrument. The original name was ‘gayago'(or ‘gayatgo’) and later gayageum. The gayageum was then further improved by Wu Ruk during the reign of Jinheung in the ShillaDynasty.

The Daegaya Gayageum Ensemble  began to disseminate Korean traditional music to Asian regions such as China, Taiwan, and the Philippines since 2014, and last year flew to the UK in western Europe to promote the melodies and joyful melodies of our melodies. Now, in 2019, The Daegaya Gayageum Ensemble is ready to meet the Australian audience. The beautiful western melodies played by the traditional Korean musical instrument will be an exotic experience for everyone at all ages.
