About Chamber Orchestra
BYU’s Chamber Orchestra is composed of 52 of the finest musicians the university has to offer. The ensemble demonstrates a mastery of classical and contemporary works and has earned the highest recommendation rating from the National Endowment of the Arts. Chamber Orchestra regularly tours in the United States and Canada and has also performed internationally, including China, the Philippines, Italy, Egypt, and Turkey. In 2017 the orchestra performed twice with Broadway star Lea Salonga: once at BYU and again on tour in Salonga’s hometown of Manila, Philippines. The orchestra also put together a collaborative album with Salonga titled The Story of My Life: Lea Salonga Live from Manila, which received the 2020 BroadwayWorld Album Award for Best New EP/Solo Release. For a university orchestra, it was not only a prestigious achievement but, in the words of director Kory Katseanes, “virtually unheard of. It’s unbelievable—but not undeserved—that BYU won.”
