Exploring Identity: Ned, Koala & Me

An exhibition of artworks by Rosie Deacon and Liam Benson celebrating and challenging notions of Australian identity. Curated by The Young Creators.

The exhibition has been curated as part of Council’s The Young Creators program that engages local high school students in all aspects of curating an exhibition.  The 2017 Young Creators are Rosie Adams, Patrick Howe, Andrew Jackson, Alexander McLarty and Natasha Seeto. 

The Young Creators present an exhibition and workshop program designed to engage, entertain and creatively inspire all ages. Experience the exhibition and get hands on with the fun workshops for pre-schoolers to adults.

Workshop Program

Whatta-Hoot Candy-Suit Tutti-Fruit Costume Making
Date: 11am – 1pm, Friday 13 January
Age: 5 plus
Cost: $10 per person pay on the day, bookings essential
Explore materials, movement, craft, colour, party and performance by making your own wearable art piece, inspired by fruit, lollies and the art of Rosie Deacon.

Mask making – exploring identity
Date: 10am – 12pm, Thursday 19 January
Age: 10 years +
Cost: $10 pay on arrival, bookings essential
Join artist Liam Benson and The Young Creators in a colourful mask making workshop.

Magical Stick Creatures with Angela van Boxtel
Date: 10am – 12pm, Saturday 21 January
Age: 7 years to adult
Cost: $10 per person, pay on arrival.
Create magical stick creatures with natural materials and scrap fabric & wool.

Thoughts and Prayers – collaborative embroidered wreath
Date: 10am – 12pm, Sunday 15, 22 and 29 January 2017
Age: All welcome
Cost: Free, bookings essential
A series of embroidery workshops where artist Liam Benson supports the communal creation of embroidered flowers for inclusion in a collaborative commemorative wreath.
