The Willoughby Symphony gets back to NATURE in this evocative concert program, under the baton of renowned conductor, Matthew Wood.

Opening with Smetana’s most enduring composition, The Moldau, the orchestra will take you on a journey along the mighty river to Castle Vyšehrad with Dvořák’s fascinating Symphonic Variations.

In a special guest appearance, Australia’s most distinguished horn virtuoso, Hector McDonald, will perform Strauss’ magnificent Horn Concerto, followed by the exciting world premiere of the winning composition of the Young Composer of the Year Award, featuring the full force of the magnificent orchestra and choir.

The concert also marks the final collaboration between 2017 Composer-in-Residence, Daniel Rojas and the Willoughby Symphony with Cantos Españoles: Three Songs of Garcia Lorca – a musical opus that is filled with life, colour, Andalusian vibrancy and coveted passions. It is an expose of colour, volume and sentiment; from the whispers of silent mourning to celebratory bells, to the crazed passions of estranged love. This performance will feature iconic mezzo-soprano, Jenny Duck-Chong, the 90 voices of the Willoughby Chorus, and the full forces of the Orchestra.
