Presenting a range of video artworks as part of the Willoughby Visual Arts Biennial:

Neon Guidelines by Joel Zika

The Concourse becomes a visual palette for an illusionistic animation piece – extending contracting and exploding though the window of The Concourse Urban Screen. The animation appropriates the surfaces and textures of this modern architectural space to create a playful critique of our public environments.

Mycolinguistics (Rubico-Sterolosis) by Ash Coates

Beginning its life as a painting, this animation comes to life in a collision of pixels, molecules and cosmic energy. It begs questions regarding the future of our environment, identity, our place within our environment and the impact of a technologically developing world on the way we interact and communicate with our environment on both a micro and macro scale.

Neon Guidelines and Mycolinguistics (Rubico-Sterolosis) will screen together on the following dates and times:
Wednesday 6 to Saturday 23 September
12pm – 1.30pm & 6pm – 7.30pm (Wednesdays to Saturdays)

Hyper Dimensional Friends by Edison Chen

Hyper Dimensional Friends explores the ways in which digital technologies are permeating our physical reality. The Concourse Urban Screen provides a platform for interactive Alien beings to live and play on. These charming creatures respond with body actions to audience interaction. The artwork aims to facilitate The Concourse (lower grass area) as a space where technology creates temporary modes of interactivity, play and community.

Filming and screening dates and times:

  • 3pm-5pm, Thursdays 7, 14 & 21 September
  • 3pm-5pm, Fridays 8, 15 & 22 September
  • 11am- 2pm, Sunday 10 September (Kaleidoscope Day Tripper)
